The Star Wars of Life

Back in college during my short stint in powerlifting, I sometimes gain extra strength during times that I’m pissed off at something. And even when I was already working and stress brings out the worst in me, I pour all of my anger out when I hit the gym. In Star Wars universe this is what they call channeling power from the dark side. Not only athletes but a lot of people use this technique to psyche themselves up. They visualize the faces of their enemies imprinted on the punching bag or their sparring partner. It makes one stronger yes, but what suffers is the spiritual side of a person. When a person continuously uses this technique, using power from the dark side and by law of attraction, he or she will attract all the negative energy that our universe has to offer. He or she gains power from it so why not look for trouble every time strength is needed right? Wrong, because the dark side always has consequences that you will surely regret.
All things positive, this is what I appreciate about Yoga, the good side of the force. I can always feel the endless flow of positive energy whenever I’m in a Yoga session, passive or active.
“May WE protect each other,
May WE nourish each other,
May WE work together with great energy,
May OUR study be enlightening and fruitful.
May WE never hate each other.
Om Peace, Peace, Peace.”
This is just one of many ending chants that is recited at the end of a Yoga session.
“May the Force be with you”. “May the Lord be with you.” The Force or the power of God cannot be seen but we can feel it and we believe in it. When I use the dark side during a workout, I feel exhausted and drained afterwards but with the good side of the Force, I feel light and positivity flows all throughout the day.
So the next time you need strength, do not succumb to the dark side. It is temporary and deceptive. Always gather strength from the light side, the good side of the force and be one with the universe and all of its being.
“Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change” - Wayne Dyer
